Australian cricket team were crowned ICC World Test Champions. The mighty Australian team won the match by 209 runs and dictated the terms on Day 5 and India lost 7 wickets for 56 runs in the morning session of Day 5 itself.
Scott Boland was the pick of the bowlers as he took the massive wicket of Virat Kohli in the morning session which changed the complexion of the match as the batter chased a wide off-stump delivery and gave a catch to Steve Smith in the slips.

Virat would be crestfallen as he should have shown some sort of resistance given the fact that the lower middle order is quite inexperienced. Virat Kohli was dismissed on 49 runs in 78 balls and struck 7 fours.
Ajinkya Rahane too was outdone by a wide off stump delivery by the left arm speedster Mitchell Starc. It seemed as if the contest was done & dusted after the dismissal of Virat, Jadeja & Rahane.

KS Bharat showed some promise before playing a slog shot from nowhere and was dismissed on 23 runs in 41 balls and struck 2 fours. Nathan Lyon was the wrecker in chief as the spinner took 4 wickets and gave away 41 runs in his 15.2 overs.
There would be a lot of talk around Shubman Gill’s controversial catch but we should not forget that cricket is not an individual sport as the likes of Rohit & Pujara should have batted responsibly.

Earlier, Aussies had got a huge lead of 173 runs after skittling out India for 296 runs. Australia’s wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey & Marnus Labuschagne took the team from a precarious position at 167-6 and stitched a massive partnership of 93 runs on a sluggish track.
The rare off-day for Mohammed Siraj in Australia’s second innnigs hurt the Men in Blue as he gave away 80 runs in his 20 overs and had taken a solitary wicket. India’s bowlers lacked the fire as a target around 400 would have been a chase able one.
In India’s 1st innings, the side were in a deep muddle after losing 4 wickets for 71 runs. The Aussie bowlers hunted in a pack. Ajinkya Rahane showed some fight and was well accompanied by Shardul Thakur as the duo stitched a 109 runs partnership and frustrated the Aussies.
Skipper Rohit Sharma had won the toss & elected to bowl first due to overcast conditions. The stalwart batter Steve Smith & Travis Head struck fine centuries and helped Aussies post a mammoth total of 469.
Mohammed Siraj took 4 scalps but gave away 108 runs in his 28.3 overs. Alex Carey played a invaluable knock of 48 runs in 69 balls we should not forget the contribution of the wicket-keeper batter in both the innings as batting with the tail is never easy.
Australian fans would be over the moon as not many gave them chance especially when Rahane & Virat were in complete control of the run chase. Australia now have all the 3 ICC trophies in their cabinet.
Twitter Reacts as Australia win ICC WTC 2021-23 final
Ganguly was hyped for BCCI president post, Dravid saab was hyped for head coach post (by me too), Rohit was hyped for captaincy, but nothing has changed so far. The process, intent, selections, blah blah. Tried now.

Terribly disappointing performance. First session was always crucial. Aus didn’t put a foot wrong, India bombed badly.
Sobering thought: Since 2013 Champions Trophy, there have been 8 ICC tournaments – 2 ODI WCs, 4 T20 WCs, 2 WTCs. India have drawn a blank in all

Rahul Dravid was a better coach with U19 team because U19 team had a point to make to the world. This senior have to nothing prove to the world. They will come, play, lose and leave and the cycle will continue. We need a coach as Ravi shastri or Gary Kirsten. #INDvsAUS #WTCFinals
