The ninth match of the CPL 2021 will have Trinbago Knight Riders take on Saint Lucia Kings on Tuesday. Trinbago Knight Riders have played three games thus far and have only managed to win one game out of them. They are currently placed at the third position on the points table. On the other hand, Saint Lucia Kings are languishing at the bottom of the table with one win in two games.
Both teams played against each other on Sunday with St. Lucia Kings winning the game by 5 runs. The Kings’ openers, R Cornwall (23 off 14) and A Fletcher (28 off 25) gave them a team a solid start, setting the foundation of a good score. Du Plessis (10 off 15), however, fell cheaply and this is a big concern for them.
Tim David’s great form with the bat is keeping the team in good stead. Tim David scored 43 off 32 balls, including 3 fours and as many sixes. He stitched a brilliant partnership with Roston Chase (30 off 24) to lead the team’s recovery. At the end of the first innings, St Lucia Kings amassed 157 in the first innings.
Trinbago Knight Riders didn’t start off too well in the second innings. Both Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster haven’t yet performed to their potential.
The duo needs to step up to the plate ahead of the coming games. Simmons made 25 off 30 balls, while Webster scored 18 off 17. Skipper, Pollard (9 off 11) got out cheaply which added more pressure in a tough chase. Colin Munro played right till the end but played a rather uncharacteristic inning.
CPL 2021: Trinbago Knight Riders vs Saint Lucia Kings- Prediction
It was Tim Seifert who brightened up Knight Riders’ chances of winning the game. He played a brilliant 40 off 16 balls and almost won the game for the team. However, a sensational over from Wahab Riaz denied Knight Riders of winning the game.
The Pollard and Co. would be hoping to come back stronger and get back to winning ways ahead of the game on Tuesday. St. Lucia Kings, on the other hand, would be keen to maintain the winning run.
