Harare Sports Club Stadium in Zimbabwe, which is currently hosting ICC Cricket World Cup qualifier games, caught fire on Tuesday night. However, since there was no damage to the ground, International Cricket Council (ICC) has allowed World Cup Qualifier games to go ahead as planned.
ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 is taking place in Zimbabwe. Harare Sports Club is one of the venues for the matches. The stadium hosted the Netherlands vs Zimbabwe match on Tuesday (June 20). After a few hours of Zimbabwe’s victory in the match, a part of the stadium was on fire.

A video went viral on social media in which a section of Harare Sports Club is seen in flames. People witnessed heavy fire and smoke coming out of the stadium. The fire was also very close to the stands. Have a look at the video below.

The fire engulfed the roof at Castle Corner. The area that caught fire is usually occupied by Zimbabwe Cricket Supporters Union. The exact reason behind the fire could not be determined. However, a highly combustible material on an open ground led to the blaze growing quickly.

On Wednesday, the ICC security team and Zimbabwe Cricket authorities analyzed the situation. Later, ICC cleared the Harare Sports Stadium to host the forthcoming matches of ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023.
On July 22 (Thursday), West Indies and Nepal are set to clash with each other at Harare Sports Club. It is the 9th match of the tournament. The stadium is going to host 8 more games in the tournament. The ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier final is also scheduled to take place at the stadium on July 9 (Sunday).
